Nearby Stores adds to strength

Truro c-store acquired by expanding retailer
Bristol-based Nearby Stores has bought a Costcutter store in Truro, Cornwall, bringing the groups’ total to 11.

Sold by the Exeter office of agent Christie & Co, the store, which was built and opened by previous owner Greg Thomas in November 2002, is located on the edge of Truro College Campus and a modern housing estate.
Thomas has retained the freehold interest in the store, granting Nearby Stores a new 21-year lease.
Paul Heather of Christie & Co’s Exeter office, said: “This Truro convenience store is the 11th acquisition for Nearby Stores a new, fast-expanding company.
“The sale attracted strong interest from nearby stores and similar groups. Demand for convenience stores across the region is very high and we are seeing considerable interest in properties from established retailers looking to expand their portfolios.”
