N Brown like-for-likes up 4.1% boosted by online sales growth

N Brown, the multichannel, specialist fit fashion retailer, saw its third quarter like-for-like sales climb by 4.1% after its Simply Be, Jacamo and JD Williams brands put in strong performances.

Group revenue in the 18 weeks to 2 January also increased by 4.1% with product revenues and financial services revenues rising by 4.3% and 3.7% respectively.

The core JD Williams brand achieved double-digit revenue growth in the period, driven by the improved product offering, strong PR activity and the retailer’s autumn/winter digital-first marketing campaigns.

Simply Be achieved low double-digit revenue growth year-on-year while Jacamo enjoyed a double-digit revenue increase following the continued success of its own-label offering.

Angela Spindler, N Brown chief executive, said: “Simply Be and Jacamo continue to show strong growth, and the potential of these brands is significant. We are also very pleased with the double-digit revenue growth in the JD Williams brand which is testament to the hard work over the past few years, and we are excited about the further potential of the online 50-plus fashion market.”

Online sales climbed by 13% in the period with 75% of new customer demand generated online.

Spindler added: “Our digital-first strategy has continued to make good progress and I am encouraged by the transformation underway in the business. We are on track to meet full year expectations, and we move into 2016 with real energy and confidence in our future.”
