Mulberry names new chief executive

Luxury fashion brand Mulberry has appointed Thierry Andretta as its new chief executive.

Currently one of the company’s independent non-executive directors, Andretta was previously chief executive of Buccellati, the Italian high luxury jewellery brand. He has also held senior roles at Lanvin, Moschino, the Gucci Group, LVMH Fashion Group and Céline.

Andretta joined Mulberry as an independent non-executive director last June and has recently been engaged as a consultant to assist with reviewing the company’s international expansion.

He will take up his new role on 7 April when Godfrey Davis, currently chairman and interim chief exceutive of Mulberry, will revert to the role of chairman.

Mulberry said Andretta will work closely with its new creative director, Johnny Coca, who will join the company in July.

Davis added: “I am delighted that Thierry has agreed to become chief executive. He has a wealth of fashion and luxury goods experience and an ability to drive our ambitious plans for international growth. In parallel with recruiting our new creative director, Johnny Coca, we undertook an extensive search and concluded that Thierry was the outstanding CEO candidate.”
