Muji to push ahead with European expansion

Muji, the Japanese homewares and fashion retailer, is to expand its presence in Europe following a leap in in its pre-tax profits last year.
The company plans to open additional stores in European countries where it already operates as well as move into new markets either directly or through franchises.
Muji’s European retail business reported a 16% rise in pre-tax profit to £3.86 million in the year to 28 January 2012. Sales increased by 4% to £61.18 million.
The retailer currently operates 12 stores throughout the UK and has a presence in nine other countries across Europe.
