M&S to launch second international website

Marks & Spencer is to launch a transactional website in the Republic of Ireland this spring.

M&S said its second international site will offer a range of online fashion exclusives that will be available to Irish shoppers for the first time, in addition to the full range of M&S clothing. Complementing the retailer’s 21 Irish stores, the site will offer over 10,000 M&S products across womenswear, lingerie, menswear and kidswear, as well as a selection of homeware products.

The move forms part of the retailer’s plans to become a leading international, multi-channel retailer by setting up tailored websites for specific local markets and follows the launch of the first M&S international website in France last October.

Ahead of the launch, M&S is offering customers the opportunity to sign up for a newsletter to be kept up to date with the latest news about the website. M&S said those registering will receive updates on new online products and offers, along with the opportunity to win Marks & Spencer gift cards.

Jonathan Glenister, head of Marks & Spencer Ireland, said: “We’re proud that over the last 30 years customers across Ireland have grown to know and love M&S. The website has been long awaited and it’s great news that customers will soon be able to enjoy the convenience of shopping with M&S at anytime and anywhere.”

M&S confirmed that the website will offer customers local delivery prices across the Republic of Ireland from standard delivery, taking 3-5 working days at €4.95 to express delivery, taking 1-2 working days at €9.95.

Don’t miss the Retail Bulletin’s International Expansion Conference 2012, sponsored by GfK. The theme of the day is: Driving sales and market share, mitigating risk and strengthening your business through international multichannel growth strategies.
