Mountain Warehouse teams up with Steve Backshall on children’s range
Outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse has joined forces with TV explorer and adventurer Steve Backshall to create a new range of outdoor clothing for children.
The range includes two limited edition collections in 2016 for children aged five to 13.
Launching this month in time for the Easter holidays, the spring/summer collection will features 23 items including T-shirts, jackets, shorts, walking boots, water bottles and a backpack. It will include a range of colourful t-shirts and shorts featuring prints of wild animals such as sharks, wolves, tree frogs and turtles. Prices will range from £9.99 for a water bottle to £69.99 for a pair of boots.
The autumn/winter range will will include cold weather items such as waterproof jackets and boots.
Backshall said: “I’m thrilled to have teamed up with Mountain Warehouse to create this new children’s range and can’t wait for the designs to hit the shelves. This collection can act as a real tool to get kids outside and active.”
Mark Neale, founder and chief executive of Mountain Warehouse, said children’s clothing already makes up over 15% of the company’s sales.
He added: “We’re delighted to have partnered with Steve on this project. The products available are further evidence of our strategy to “weatherproof” the business so it is no longer dependent on cold, wet weather and, like all Mountain Warehouse products, the range is made to a high standard and is excellent value for money.”
Mountain Warehouse started with a single store in Swindon in 1997. It reported record half-year sales of £59.3 million for the six months to the end of August 2015, up 24.8% from the previous year.
The group, which now has 228 stores, also enjoyed record Christmas trading with sales up 28.6% in the six weeks to 3 January 2016. Online orders jumped 49.2% compared to the same period in the previous year.
