Mothercare’s finance director resigns

Mothercare has announced that Neil Harrington has resigned from his role as finance director to take up a new position with a private equity company.

Harrington joined the struggling mother and baby products retailer from Asda’s George Clothing in 2006. Mothercare said in a statement that he had contributed to its development as a strong international brand.

Alan Parker, executive chairman of Mothercare, said: “I would like to thank Neil for his significant contribution to Mothercare over the past six years.  We wish him every success in the future.”

The company said it would begin a search for a successor “immediately” although Harrington will remain with the business for the time being to ensure an orderly hand over of responsibilities.
