Mothercare UK chief steps down
Mothercare UK managing director Mike Logue is to leave the business following a management reshuffle.
The mother and baby products retailer announced yesterday that Logue will step down next month when the role will be made redundant. Instead Mothercare will look to fill a new role of commercial director for the UK.
The news comes after Mothercare announced that its Australian arm, a separate business to Mothercare in the UK, has been placed into administration.
The restructure is part of a three year turnaround led by chief executive Simon Calver who joined Mothercare from Lovefilm last year. This has included the hiring of former Argos finance director Matt Smith as chief financial officer and ex-Sainsbury’s executive Nick Henwood as director of retail operations. Calver will take a more direct role in the running of the UK business following Logue’s departure.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Logue joined Mothercare in 2011 from Asda after Mothercare announced that it was to cut its UK store network by around a third as it looked to turn the business around.
In a statement Calver said: “We would like to thank Mike for his contribution to developing and starting the implementation of our transformation and growth plan and wish him every success for the future.”
