Morrisons to launch new clothing range
Morrisons is to launch its first clothing range as it looks to expand its non-food offering in stores.
The new Nutmeg range will go on sale in around 100 Morrisons stores from March 2013 and will be “no-nonsense, fashionable and simple for customers to buy.” The initial launch will include a range of children’s clothing and adult essentials.
Morrisons has recruited a 50 strong team to develop the range including several executives who have joined from other supermarkets and high-street fashion retailers.
The team will be led by director of clothing Tim Bettley who joined Morrisons from fashion chain Peacocks earlier this year. Bettley said: “We want to offer a different approach from other supermarkets with simple hard-wearing fashion that is easy for customers to pick up while they are doing their food shop. This is a great opportunity because Morrisons shoppers are looking for a fresh approach to supermarket fashion.”
The supermarket has opened a new headquarters for Nutmeg in Coalville near Leicester which the clothing team is due to move into today.
