Morrisons distribution centre attracts 5,000 job applications
DHL has reported receiving over 5,000 applications for the 350 roles at the new Morrisons distribution centre in Bridgwater.
The centre, which DHL Supply Chain manages for Morrisons, has attracted a huge volume of applicants from within the local area and applications for the various roles have now been closed.
Bob Tanner, operations director at DHL Supply Chain, said: “We’re not only delighted by the high number of applicants from the Bridgwater area, but by their sheer enthusiasm.”
The centre has the capacity for 1,000 staff and DHL said it will recruit locally for any further vacancies wherever possible.
Neal Austin, group logistics & supply chain director for Morrisons commented: “We are excited by the Bridgwater Distribution Centre development and believe it will make a big difference to our customers in the south-west and Wales, allowing us to deliver them great value food in a more efficient way.”
“I am pleased to hear that there has been such a high level of interest in the variety of jobs that will become available at the DC, particularly from those local to the area.”
