Morrisons completes Ocado deal
Morrisons has announced the completion of its agreement with online retailer Ocado, which will enable the supermarket to launch an online grocery operation from January 2014.
Under the deal, Morrisons will benefit from Ocado’s technology, logistics and distribution operations including the recently opened Dordon customer fulfilment centre in the Midlands.
The agreement comprises a technology and services arrangement and a sale and leaseback of property and equipment at Dordon.
The deal was approved by Ocado’s shareholders at its annual general meeting on 18 July, and completed on 25 July.
Morrisons announced in March that it was in talks with Ocado regarding a potential tie-up as it looked to catch up with rivals in home delivery.
