Morrisons appoints Post Office CEO as non-exec director
Morrisons has appointed Post Office chief executive Paula Vennells as a non-executive director.
Having joined the Post Office in 2007, Vennells became chief executive in April 2012. Her previous roles include group commercial director at Whitbread as well as stints at Unilever and L’Oreal. She has also held directorships in sales and marketing with a number of retailers including Dixons Stores Group and Argos.
Andrew Higginson, Morrisons chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Paula to the board. Her experience of restructuring and building a retail operation at the Post Office, her background in FMCG and her experience as a serving CEO, will all be invaluable to the board going forward.”
Morrisons has also announced that Johanna Waterous is to step down from the board in January after six years as a non-executive director. She will be succeeded as chair of the remuneration committee by Irwin Lee.
Higginson added: “I would like to thank Johanna for her help and support during my first year as chairman and for her work on the board over the last six years. We wish her well for the future.”
