Moonpig to open tech hub in Manchester
Moonpig, the online greeting cards and gifts retailer, will be opening its first tech hub next month as part of a multi-million pound investment in the next phase of its growth plans.
Situated in Manchester’s Spinningfields, the office will create fifty new technology jobs in both Manchester and London and will roll out a new ecommerce, data and personalisation platform for Moonpig.
The project will be led by Peter Donlon, Moonpig’s chief technology officer.
Donlon said: “Moonpig produces over 15 million completely one-off items for customers every year, each one uniquely personal to the sender and receiver, and powered by our ‘emotionally intelligent’ technology.
“We’re seeking the best engineering talent out there to turbo-charge the Moonpig business going forward. We selected Manchester for its thriving tech scene and wealth of exceptional talent.”
The new office will be headed up by Mark Evans who has been appointed as Moonpig’s head of engineering and previously held the same role at Nested.com. His prior roles also include over two years at Sainsbury’s.
The news follows Moonpig’s recent appointment of Nickyl Raithatha as its new managing director and the move into its new headquarters in London’s Farringdon.
