Moonpig launches ‘edible’ cake-flavoured cards

To mark the return of the Great British Bake Off 2021, online cards and gifts retailer Moonpig has announced a limited-edition collection of cake-flavoured birthday cards.

Flavours include Lemon Drizzle, Victoria Sponge, Decadent Swiss Roll, Chocolate and Battenberg. Cards are supplied with a personalised message.

The unique cards are made from rice paper plus a special cake flavouring: ‘lemon’ for Lemon Drizzle, ‘chocolate’ for Chocolate, ‘almond marzipan’ for Battenberg, ‘cream’ for Swiss Roll and ‘vanilla’ for Victoria Sponge.

Sarah-Jane Porter, head of cards and licensing at Moonpig reported that “The new collection is the icing on the cake of Moonpig’s already popular cake themed birthday card offering and we’re excited to see how they go down with our customers.”

Nick Jenkins founded Moonpig in 2000 as the first online greetings card business in the UK. In FY 21 they have delivered over 70 million personalised cards, gifts and flower bouquets in over 50m orders. Earlier in the year, Moonpig Group floated on the London Stock Exchange.
