Monsoon holds on to key executive

Rose Foster promoted chief executive
August 4 2003
Monsoon has persuaded managing director Rose Foster to stay with the business, promoting her to the newly created role of chief executive.

Foster announced in May that she would be leaving Monsoon to become group managing director of retail chain Littlewoods.
Her decision to stay with Monsoon comes at a time when founder and chairman Peter Simon is strengthening the senior management. Last week Monsoon appointed John Clark, the former finance director of Pret a Manger, as its new finance director.
A statement from Monson said: “Following the recent announcement of the appointment of John Clark as Group Finance Director and as part of an ongoing restructuring of the board, Monsoon is pleased to announce that Rose Foster has decided to accept the newly created position of Chief Executive Officer of Monsoon plc.
“The new position will be effective from September 1 2003 and the board is delighted that Rose, who Monsoon had announced in May 2003 would be leaving the group, has decided to stay on and take up this new role.”
Simon recently launched a put option scheme that aims to bring 92.5 per cent of Monsson shares into his family’s control, and will see Monsoon end its stock market listing.
