Mixed trading holds back DSG

Tough Italian market continued to offset gains across the business.

Total sales rose 14 per cent for the 8 weeks to 6 January 2007 with like for like sales up 3 per cent. Like for like UK sales are up 3 per cent while like for like international sales up 3 per cent. DSG International said in the UK sales of televisions and laptops were strong throughout the period with PC World well positioned for the launch of Windows Vista at the end of this month. The group said Currys’ sales were disappointing in the early pre-Christmas gift period however the late Christmas rush subsequently had a strong start to the Winter Sale.
