Middleton Shopping Centre prepares for rebrand

The Middleton Shopping Centre is to be rebranded with a new logo as part of a programme of improvement works following its acquisition by Ellandi earlier this year.

The new logo includes an image of Norman Archers which is taken from the 230ft x 8ft Fred Evans mural which was installed in 1971 when the centre first opened.

The mural depicts scenes from the history of the town, starting with the first panel of a Norman soldier looking into the past to the final panel which shows a typical Middleton Wakes fairground.

The red accent was chosen from the coat of arms of the former Middleton Municipal Borough council and The Flodden Window at the St Leonards Parish Church – believed to be the oldest war memorial in the UK.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Tim Cornford, asset manager of the scheme, explained: “We have put a lot of work into deciding on a new logo as we wanted to ensure that it fitted in with the historic background of the town. We were really pleased with the final outcome and can’t wait to see the finished product set against new lighting and flooring.”

Centre manager Howard Gibbons said: “The logo will initially be launched as part of a new website for the centre and will continue to be rolled our across the scheme in the coming months.”

Plans are being finalised for the centre which will include work both internally and externally with improvements being made to circulation within the centre.

Cornford added: “The finished product will see a dramatically improved centre, making it a much more inviting environment to shop in.”

The improvement works are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2015.
