Michael Kors hires first president of menswear

Luxury fashion brand Michael Kors has appointed Mark Brashear to the newly created role of president of menswear.

Prior to joining Michael Kors, Brashear worked for over five years as chief executive and chairman for the Americas at Hugo Boss. He was also previously president of Façonnable from 2001 to 2008 and executive vice president for the Southwest Unit at Nordstrom from 1993 to 2001.

In his new role, Brashear will report to Michael Kors chairman and chief executive John Idol and will lead the brand’s strategic development of its men’s business. Idol said: “The men’s world represents a significant opportunity for us, and we’ve been putting the pieces in place to grow that business. Mark’s appointment is a big step forward because he brings with him a wealth of skills and experience in men’s brand-building.”

In the coming months, Michael Kors is planning to launch a men’s fragrance, introduce a new collection of men’s watches, and open its first flagship store to feature the full men’s offering in New York’s SoHo. The brand is also set to open its largest store in Europe on London’s Regent Street this autumn.

Idol added: “The addition of Mark to our team now enables us to build substantially on the momentum we’ve created.”
