MFI reports steady trading

Howdens roll-out to continue
October 4 2002
Furniture retailer MFI has said that the business is trading n line with expectations.

MFI commented on current retail trading as it prepared to highlight the success of its Howdens Joinery trade business to analysts.
Howdens sells kitchens and joinery products to independent building contractors from 254 depots across the UK. MFI sees scope for 380 UK depots by 2005, and said early sales of as pilot of 12 Howden depots in the US are in line with its experience of start up in the UK.
The statement added: “At the interim results on 25 July the Group said that it did not expect consumer expenditure growth rates to continue at the levels then being seen, and that it was comfortable with market expectations for the outcome for the year. The Group has continued to perform in line with these expectations since then.”
