Meadowhall seeks enthusiastic toy tester

Meadowhall Shopping Centre is set to offer a dream job to one lucky youngster when it appoints a Toy Quality Control Analyst this summer.

The shopping centre is accepting applications from children born after 1999 for a role which will involve testing toys and gadgets during the summer holidays and writing blog posts. The successful applicant will be paid in toys.

Meadowhall centre director, Darren Pearce, told the Star that the objective of the project is to find out what kids really want from toys. He said: “They’ll be in every week, testing a whole variety of toys. I think it’s something lots of kids will want to get involved with – what better than spending an hour a week playing with all the latest toys? We are expecting a lot of applications.”

He continued: “They will need to test toys all the way through the summer holidays and also write an online blog about what they really think, rating the toys from awesome to boring, or cool to uncool, using the sort of language that kids will relate to.”

Applicants will be required to go through a rigorous recruitment process. A Meadowhall spokesman said: “This is a very important role and candidates must show the right qualities to be successful.

“Desirable skills include inquisitiveness, dedication, thoroughness and attention to detail. A sense of humour is a must.”

Children who are interested in applying must complete an application form and obtain a reference from their parents stating why they would be suitable for the role. Interviews take place later this month.
