McArthurGlen appoints chief operating officer
Designer outlet centre operator McArthurGlen has appointed Stephane Labelle as its chief operating officer.
Labelle was previously European vice president at Guess Europe where he worked for the last 15 years. Prior to Guess, Labelle’s 30-year career in retail and fashion included eight years at the Inditex Group where he was President of Zara France overseeing the international expansion of the company in France, Belgium and Japan. In the newly created position, Labelle will report directly to McArthurGlen CEO Julia Calabrese.
JW Kaempfer, chairman, McArthurGlen Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Stephane to McArthurGlen as our chief operating officer. The creation of this new position will continue to strengthen our management and retail team and enable us to focus on the priorities that are vital to us delivering a world-class retail proposition for our brand partners and to our shoppers.”
McArthurGlen is currently undergoing a period of expansion with an outlet centre opening this autumn near Hamburg, and a further four centres in planning. These include two in France, one in Belgium, and the group’s first centre outside Europe in Vancouver, Canada.
Labelle said: “To join such a European leader in retail as McArthurGlen is a tremendous honour and privilege. The group has grown strongly since it pioneered the concept of designer outlets in the mid-1990s, and we are now looking ahead at a new period of growth, both in terms of the number of McArthurGlen Designer Outlets and what we have to offer our many stakeholders, in particular our consumers and our brand partners.”
