Matalan’s star continues to rise

Discounter reports sales increase and new store programme

Fashion discounter Matalan reported a like-for-like sales
increase of 5.7 per cent in the 17 weeks to June 22.

Retail sales increased by 19.4 per cent, with total group sales up 25.6 per cent.
Matalan has opened nine new stores this year, bringing the total to 152, and plans a further 11 over the next year. The company believes it can potentially double its current UK sales space.
