Matalan changes finance director
Former Asda apointee takes over sooner than planned

Discount clothing retailer Matalan has announced that Phil Dutton is to take over as finance director immediately.
Dutton, the former finance director of Asda stores, joined Matalan in September, and was due to replace Ian Smith as finance director at the financial year end in February.
Matalan said the handover of finance responsibilities to Dutton has gone well, and Smith will now resign as a director at the end of November, remaining as a consultant.
Chairman John Hargreaves said: ‘I would like to thank Ian for his invaluable contribution over the past 12 years, which has resulted in the successful business it is today. I welcome Phil to the Board and look forward to his contributing to our efforts to realise the full potential of the Matalan business.”
