Marks & Spencer reshuffles its board
Marks & Spencer has reshuffled its board following the departure of senior independent director Jan du Plessis who has stepped down after serving on the board since 2008.
He will be succeeded by Vindi Banga who is chairman of the remuneration committee and has been a non-executive director of Marks & Spencer since 2012.
Meanwhile, Miranda Curtis, who is a member of the remuneration and nomination committees, has been appointed to the audit committee. In addition, Marks & Spencer chairman Robert Swannell will join the remuneration committee with immediate effect.
The remuneration committee will continue to be chaired by Banga.
Swannell said: “On behalf of the M&S board, I would like to thank Jan for his outstanding commitment and contribution to M&S. His insights and experience have been invaluable over the last seven years. We wish him well in his new appointment at SABMiller.
“The nominations committee has set clear criteria for the experience and skills for non-executive director succession and we expect to make an additional appointment in due course.”
