Marks & Spencer makes new senior appointments to drive next phase of transformation
Marks & Spencer has made two new appointments within its senior team.
Rachel Higham has been hired as chief digital and technology officer while Mark Lemming is to be promoted to the role of managing director of international.
Due to join M&S later this year, Higham is currently chief information officer at WPP. Prior to this, she was managing director for IT at BT Group and managing director for Asia in BT’s Technology division. She has also held senior roles at Vodafone, ACE Group and in the banking sector.
Meanwhile, Lemming will move from his current role of clothing and home supply chain and logistics director in the new financial year. He joined M&S two years ago from Screwfix where he ran the international division.
Both roles will sit on the executive committee.
M&S chief executive Stuart Machin said: “These two new leadership appointments reflect the importance of digital and technology and capital-light International growth to the next phase of our transformation.
“As I set out at our recent capital markets day, we have more to do in both of these areas and so much opportunity. Rachel and Mark are a fantastic addition to the executive team and I am confident that, with their leadership, we will accelerate the pace of change in the business as we reshape M&S for growth.”
