Marks & Spencer appoints non-exec director

Marks & Spencer has appointed InterContinental Hotels chief executive Richard Solomons as a non-executive director.

Due to take up his appointment on 13 April, he will also take a seat on the nomination committee.

Solomons joined InterContinental Hotels in 1992 and since then has worked in a number of senior roles, including chief financial officer, before his appointment as chief executive in 2011.

Marks & Spencer chairman Robert Swannell said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard Solomons to the board of Marks & Spencer. He is a chief executive with a proven track record in a global consumer business and will bring a wealth of relevant experience.”

Solomons added: “I am looking forward to joining the board of Marks & Spencer and contributing to the continuing development of this iconic, innovative and trusted brand.”
