Marks & Spencer appoints head of social media

Marks & Spencer has promoted Charlotte Tonry to the position of head of social media.

Tonry has worked with the retailer for over seven years in various social media roles, including manager for clothing and home.

Prior to that, she worked with Time Inc for nearly four years where her most recent position was social media manager.

She has also previously worked with Orchid Box in an SEO and copywriting role.

Earlier this month, Marks & Spencer reported strong Christmas trading in the 13 weeks to 28 December despite a “challenging” trading environment. On a like-for-like basis food sales increased 8.9% while clothing and home sales edged up 1.9%.
