Majestic appoints new CFO

Majestic Wine has announced that Nigel Alldritt, its group chief financial officer and company secretary, will step down from the board at today’s AGM.

Alldritt will be succeeded on 7 August by James Crawford, who is currently finance director of Naked Wines International, the customer funded online international wine specialist which Majestic acquired earlier this year.

Having joined Majestic in 2002, Alldritt has served on the board for the past 13 years with responsibility for finance, IT and logistics. Majestic said he will remain with the business for a further three months to ensure an orderly handover.

Crawford has been Naked Wines’ finance director since March 2014 following a 13 year career with Diageo where he held several senior finance, strategy and business development roles in the UK and North America.

Phil Wrigley, Majestic’s chairman, said: “Following our acquisition of Naked Wines the enlarged Majestic business has entered a new and exciting growth phase as we capitalise on our complimentary skills in stores and online.

“The next three years will be a period of rapid development as we transform the enlarged business into a multi-channel, international wine specialist. We have started to execute our plans at pace and the board has decided that now is the right time to establish the leadership team for the future.

“Nigel has been a great Finance Director and made a huge contribution to Majestic’s success during his 13 years with the business. I personally thank him for his hard work and wish him well for the future.”

He added: “I’m delighted that we have identified a worthy successor in James from within our existing management team. Having worked with James throughout the acquisition process the board is confident that he has the right financial skills, industry knowledge and international experience to help lead us through the next phase of our development.”
