Logistics investment pays off for Asos

Online fashion and beauty retailer Asos.com has announced a huge increase in sales for the six month period to 30 September 2005.

Year-on-year sales for the past six months leapt by 86 per cent, reflecting the company’s investment in the buying team and an improved product offer. Asos also attributes the improvement to the move to a new 70,000 sq. ft. warehouse and the implementation of a new bespoke back-office solution.
Asos say that they will be using the extra resources to deliver around 200 new fashion lines per week, every week.
Nick Robertson, Asos chief executive (pictured) said,” I remain optimistic about the long term prospects for ASOS and we are putting in the building blocks now to support continued high levels of growth. That said, our first half performance should not necessarily be taken as an indication of the outcome for the full year, especially with tougher comparables ahead and the all important Christmas trading period still to come.
