Lloydspharmacy appoints head of retail
Lloydspharmacy has appointed Jeff Wemyss as Head of Retail.
Jeff joins Lloydspharmacy with over fifteen years’ experience in the retail sector. He comes from the Carphone Warehouse, where he was Head of Group Cellular Buying.
Prior to this, he was Trading Director at Superdrug, where he helped lead the strategic repositioning of the brand in the market. He has also held key roles in the health and beauty buying teams at Boots and Safeway.
Jeff comments; “This is the most exciting job in Health and Beauty retail at the moment. There is an enormous amount of potential for the Lloydspharmacy brand. Although it is a healthcare company there is a lot of scope to build on developing the OTC health and beauty product ranges.
With so much change afoot in the pharmacy sector, this is fuelling rapid and exciting innovation. Lloydspharmacy is rightly famous for its expert healthcare advice, and this strong relationship with our customers is the key to our future.”
He leads a 26-strong retail team at Lloydspharmacy, and will be focusing on developing and enhancing the proposition delivered to customers in the chain’s 1600-plus UK stores.
Starting his career in the supermarket and FMCG sector, Jeff has firm views about the power of retail brands. He adds; “I was hooked on retail very early in my career. The power of getting it right was brought home to me when I saw a store’s sales lift by a quarter overnight following a re-fit. Lloydspharmacy is currently the 26th biggest retailer in the UK, and there is the opportunity for the whole team to help take us further up the list.”
