Littlewoods announces plans to monetise Facebook with new online shopping tool

Online retailer Littlewoods is aiming to become the first retailer to monetise Facebook fans as it launches a new interactive shopping tool.

The retailer will be the first brand to use the SeeItShopIT e-commerce tool to deliver an interactive shopping experience directly within people’s Facebook news feeds.

Developed by digital agency Isobar, SeeItShopIt will enable the retailer to showcase collections of products within a single post. Facebook users will then be able to browse through brand collections, share individual items, share SeeItShopIt with friends and go directly through to purchase.

Littlewoods will initially be using the tool to launch Myleene Klass’s new swimwear collection. This will be followed by the launch of ten new collections to the retailer’s 162,000 Facebook fans throughout May and June.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

“Littlewoods always looks to be leading customer experiences, whether online or offline. The SeeItShopIt tool gives us the ability to deliver a new way for our Facebook fans to connect with our products,” said Gary Kibble, retail director at Littlewoods.

Rick Williams, CTO at Isobar, added: “We created SeeItShopIt to deliver an interactive shopping experience directly within Facebook’s news feed, where users spend most of their time. The tool will allow any brand with a broad product portfolio to monetise their Facebook fan base by providing a seamless shopping experience.”
