Lincolnshire Co-op reports 2.2% rise in first half food sales

Lincolnshire Co-operative has reported a 2.2% year-on-year increase in sales at its 78 food stores in the six months to March 2014.

Demand for bread and cakes made by Lincolnshire Co-op’s own bakers rose by 8% while sales of meat produced by the Society’s butchery in Lincoln grew by 7%. In addition, there was an 11% increase in sales of the ‘Love Local’ range which features different products from around the group’s trading area.

The Society, which also offers travel, pharmacy and funeralcare services, increased its total sales by 1.3% to £142.6 million in the half year.

Investment in new services included the opening of Crowle Food Store and a £3 million refurbishment of Parkside Medical Centre in Boston which includes a Lincolnshire Co-op pharmacy.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Lincolnshire Co-op chief executive Ursula Lidbetter said: “We’re pleased to be able to report a positive trading result in continuing difficult trading conditions. It’s down to the hard work and dedication of our 2,700 staff and the support of our 230,000 members. My thanks go to all of them.

“We’re all committed to the success of our co-op because success means we can pay dividend to our members, invest in the services they need and support good causes making a difference in their communities.”
