Like for Likes rise at Boots

Boots total sales were up 3.3% in the fourth quarter with key health and beauty categories continuing to perform well.

Boots The Chemists sales in the quarter increased by 3.3 per cent in total and by 2.2 per cent on a like for like basis. Sales in the quarter benefit by an estimated 1% due to the timing of Easter which added one additional trading day. Sales in Boots Opticians were up 6.7 per cent.
Chief Executive Officer, Richard Baker said” In what has been a tough trading environment we have performed solidly in our fourth quarter. We believe that the consumer environment is set to remain challenging and that there will be continuing inflationary pressure on retail
costs.
‘Our strategy of Building a Better Boots has helped deliver an encouraging performance in our health and beauty businesses and we will continue with our strategy of developing our expertise in these areas.
‘This has been a year of enormous change, and it is pleasing that the core business has remained focused and made good progress.’
