Lidl forms fundraising partnership with cancer charity CLIC Sargent
Discount retailer Lidl has joined forces with CLIC Sargent in a 15-month fundraising partnership to help children and young people with cancer.
Lidl aims to raise £150,000 for the charity through a variety of fundraising activities including running marathons and gathering donations from product sales and bucket collections. It will also organise events and Christmas parties for the children.
The partnership is being launched this week with a pledge from Lidl to donate 30p from every pack of Oaklands British apples to CLIC Sargent as well as £1 for every new Facebook fan during the week. With Lidl’s current Facebook fanbase at £193,666, the retailer will donate a lump sum of £10,000 when the total reaches 200,000.
Lidl said the money raised will help to pay for a variety of services to help children and young people with cancer.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Georgina Hall of Lidl said: “We’re thrilled to be working with such a wonderful charity. We’ve seen first hand how enormously important their services are and how much it means to the children who benefit from them. We’re really looking forward to a successful partnership where we manage to raise lots of funds for this incredibly worthwhile cause.”
Celine Gomez, head of corporate partnerships at CLIC Sargent added: “We are looking forward to working with Lidl and building a successful relationship to help children and young people.”
“CLIC Sargent provides clinical, practical and emotional support to help children and young people and their families to cope with cancer and get the most out of life,” said Gomez. “We are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and in some cases bereavement.”
