Williams, the chairman of Wyevale Garden Centres, survived a vote to oust him which had been proposed at an EGM called by Laxey Partners.
Williams received 51.1pc of votes cast to keep him as chairman. 1,788 supported him while 98 voted to remove him.
Williams said. “We have got a mandate to get on and implement the agenda we have laid out.”
Colin Kingsnorth Laxey chairman said “We’re not going away – absolutely not. We have never been accused of running away,”
“There is nothing about David Williams that inspires us with confidence and we will continue to want to see the back of him. He has got 51pc support – it is not much support to carry on as chairman.”
