Land Securities rolls out free WiFi to all of its UK shopping centres
Shopping centre owner Land Securities is to roll-out free WiFi to all 24 its UK shopping centres.
Partnering with public access WiFi provider The Cloud, the company will offer WiFi in all 22 of its shopping centres as well as at its two outlet malls. The move follows a successful pilot at the company’s One New Change and Cabot Circus shopping centres in London and Bristol late last year.
Based on the estimated combined annual footfall of all Land Securities shopping centres, The Cloud expects to provide WiFi to nearly 300 million visitors every year, giving them free access to the internet via their smartphones, tablets and laptops.
Commenting on the roll-out, Richard Akers of Land Securities said: “The retailers in our shopping centres know the value of having WiFi in their venues – they recognise that people expect to be able to browse the web wherever they are and get a first-class connectivity experience. This roll-out is part of our vision for ensuring that all our shopping centres embrace the digital expectations of visitors. The success of The Cloud’s WiFi roll-out in the first two sites convinced us of the need to rapidly expand the service to the rest of our estate.”
Never Miss a Retail Update!Vince Russell, managing director of The Cloud, added: “This ground breaking partnership with Land Securities will allow The Cloud to use its long standing WiFi expertise to deliver a high quality service to millions of shoppers allowing them enhance the retail experience with fast, reliable access to the rapidly emerging multichannel marketplace.”
