Land Securities begins extension of Lakeside
Land Securities has started work on a 25,000 sq ft extension at its 355,000 sq ft Lakeside Retail Park in Essex. The extension will provide space for three new stores, two of which have already been let.
Furnishings retailer CSL has signed up for a 14,000 sq ft store and childrenswear retailer Mamas & Papas has taken a 5,000 sq ft unit. Land Securities said the new deals are for leases of at least ten years. As part of the development, Pizza Hut will relocate to a new unit, to be built at the entrance to the park.
Hermione Mackrill, portfolio director for Land Securities said: “In a challenging retail environment, the expansion of Lakeside Retail Park demonstrates continued retailer interest in the scheme and reinforces its position as one of the largest and most successful retail parks in the UK.”
The works started at the end of July and the three new store units are expected to be completed by the middle of 2012.
