Land of Leather sales slip

Like for like sales orders fell 0.9 per cent in the 13 weeks to 29 April 2007.

Total sales orders rose 21.8% during in the period, as the group opened 13 new stores in the first half of the year. Like for like sales for the same period a year earlier rose 4.3%. The group said ” The market has remained challenging since the start of this calendar year and a further interest rate increase may unduly affect sales in the short term if consumers over react before normal spending patterns return. However, as we announced in March with our interim results, we expect profits for the full year
to 29 July 2007 to be in line with market expectations”.
