La Senza considers plans for restructure
The owner of lingerie retailer La Senza is considering plans to restructure the business sources have told the Financial Mail. The proposed plans would allow the retailer to close or sell some of its poorly-performing stores.
La Senza is thought to be weighed down by leases agreed by sister lingerie chain Contessa following the merger of the two companies in 2007. However, some of the 66 leases are thought to be still registered in the Contessa name which may allow owner Lion Capital to put any unwanted leases into Contessa and sell the business on.
It has been reported that as many as a quarter of La Senza’s 180 stores could be disposed of in this way if the plans come to fruition. The retailer is thought to be consulting advisers over the plans including restructuring experts Hilco.
