Kwik Save awards national security contract
St James Security to guard 202 stores
June 13 2003
Kwik Save has awarded a multi million pound store security contract to manned guarding company St James Security.
The contract sees Gateshead-based St James Security providing retail security officers to protect 202 Kwik Save stores across the UK, from Dundee in Scotland to Plymouth in the south west of England.
The move will create several hundred new jobs at St James Security as Kwik Save begins to consolidate its security operation down from several suppliers to just one security firm.
A team of five regional contract managers and a national account manager will oversee the contract and liaise with Kwik Save store and regional managers.
The company will also be able to draw on additional management and administrative resources from its network of regional offices in Gateshead, East Kilbride and Watford to support Kwik Save. Retail security officers deployed in the stores will be wearing new corporate uniforms in line with Kwik Save’s overall re-branding.
Peter Durham, St James Security’s managing director, said: “Kwik Save is a major blue-chip client and reflects the increasing number of large scale retailers who trust St James Security to meet and exceed their security requirements.”
Mike Hargreaves, security operations manager for Kwik Save, said: “St James Security demonstrated that they could deliver a consistent quality service. Furthermore we recognised the value of using a guarding service that has guaranteed staff vetting and training procedures in place.”
