Kingfisher’s Ian Cheshire knighted in New Year’s Honours list
Kingfisher, the owner of B&Q and Screwfix, has seen its chief executive Ian Cheshire recognised in the New Year’s Honours list with the award of a knighthood.
The retailer has been knighted for services to “Business, Sustainability and the Environment”.
Having led the Kingfisher Group since 2008, Cheshire has introduced a number of sustainability initiatives during his tenure. The group has also joined forces with companies such as IKEA, BT, Coca Cola and a range of non-governmental organisations in a ‘Net Positive’ plan which aims to help businesses achieve their sustainability goals.
In addition to his role as group chief executive of Kingfisher, Cheshire was named as chairman of the British Retail Consortium in 2012. He is also currently the lead non-executive member on the Department for Work and Pensions Board, the chairman of the Prince of Wales Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change, and president of the Business Disability Forum President’s Group.
