Kingfisher reports second quarter sales growth
Kingfisher, the owner of B&Q and Screwfix, has reported a 4.8% increase in total sales in its second quarter.
In the 10 weeks to 11 July, like-for-like sales across the group rose by 3.5%.
In the UK and Ireland, B&Q saw a 3.4% increase in like-for-like sales while like-for-like sales at Screwfix surged by 16.7%
Meanwhile, like-for-like sales in France, where Kingfisher operates the Castorama and Brico Dépôt stores, edged up 1.3%. Like-for-like sales in Russia and Poland grew by 5.1% and 5.3% respectively.
Kingfisher chief executive Véronique Laury, said: “We have delivered a solid Q2 sales performance to date across all our major businesses, albeit against softer comparatives than in Q1.
“We look forward to updating on further progress against our first ‘sharp’ decisions in September. And we have to date returned £138 million to shareholders via a share buy back since the year end.”
