Kate Spade teams up with tech start-up to sell iPhone charging bags

Kate Spade has teamed up with technology start-up Everpurse to create a new collection of designer bags that double as a power supply to enable customers to charge their iPhones on the go.

The collection, which will be launched this September, includes bags, clutches, wristlets, totes and backpacks that will be sold by Kate Spade New York stores, Kate Spade online, Nordstrom and Everpurse.com.

A fully charged Kate Spade Everpurse should last a typical iPhone user for two days, said Everpurse co-founder and chief technology officer Dan Salcedo.

The bags will cost between $198 and $698 and will have the ability to charge all models from iPhone 5 through to the iPhone 6 Plus. The bags themselves will never plugged into wall sockets but will rest on a charging mat which sends energy wirelessly into a battery inside.
