Kate Spade hires first senior vice president of international
Upmarket fashion brand Kate Spade has appointed Roy Chan to the newly created role of senior vice president of international.
Reporting to Kate Spade chief executive Craig Leavitt, Chan will lead international expansion for Kate Spade New York, Kate Spade Saturday and Jack Spade.
Chan’s most recent role was president of international at Jones Group. Prior to that he was acting chief executive of Band of Outsiders and was also global chief operating officer of Evisu.
His previous positions include senior vice president, general merchandise manager, international business development at Ralph Lauren and vice president of international licensing and senior vice president of design and product development for global womenswear at Tommy Hilfiger.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Commenting on the appointment Leavitt told WWD: “We are continuing our rapid international expansion in regions including Asia, Latin America and Europe. Roy will be a key part of our long-term goal to achieve two-thirds of our retail footprint outside of North America.”
Kate Spade plans to open 80 stores around the world in the current financial year as it looks to do one third of its business outside of North America by the end of 2016.
