Karen Millen to launch German website

Womenswear retailer Karen Millen will launch its first native language website this month in line with its international expansion strategy.

The new transactional site will cater specifically to German domestic preferences and will aim to provide an authentic local shopping experience. This will include local payment options such as paying by invoice and money transfer, as well as a range of delivery options and a free returns policy.  As in the UK, the German website will feature the KM Uncovered branded editorial content.

Karen Millen operates four stores in Germany in key cities including Düsseldorf and Hamburg, with the most recent launch in Berlin in late  2010.

The retailer also plans to launch an Australian website which is due to go live next month. The brand’s transactional UK website launched during September 2007 now ships to 21 countries outside of the UK with visitors from 216 countries.

Gemma Metheringham, Karen Millen’s joint managing director, said: “We are delighted with the brand loyalty we have secured in the German market since the opening of our stores.  The local language site will to reach out to a wider audience and enhance the brand experience for customers in this mareket.”

Founded 30 years ago, Karen Millen trades in more than 300 stores and concessions in over 40 countries worldwide.
