JYSK to expand into Singapore

Danish furniture retailer JYSK is to launch its first store in Singapore as it looks to open 20 stores in the country over the next five years.

The new stores will be operated through a franchise agreement between JYSK and Courts, one of the leading furniture and electronic retailers in South-East Asia. The agreement with JYSK will enable Courts to develop its home furnishings offer.

Jonas Schrøder, communications director at JYSK, said: “Courts is Singapore’s largest retail company and has 40 years’ experience in the country. We are sure that JYSK’s strengths, with great offers and a Scandinavian inspired selection, is a great match for Courts.”

The first store in Singapore will be around 1,000 square metres which is a similar size to JYSK’s European stores.

The opening will mean that JYSK has a presence in 38 countries.
