In electricals and home technology, popular purchases included tablets and TVs as well as small and large electrical items. Fashion sales benefited from a 17.4% uplift in childrenswear while sales within the home directorate were boosted by strong performances in gift food, gift collections, beds and bedroom furniture.
Maggie Porteous, director of selling, north and new format, said: “With just one full week left of the trading year, we are now shifting to look at the year ahead. We have had a really strong Clearance period and are now poised and ready to welcome our customers for the spring, with great service and some fabulous new stock!”
