John Lewis sales up 15.6% last week

John Lewis enjoyed strong trading last week with a year-on-year sales increase of 15.6%.

In the shops, a number of stores achieved double digit percentage growth, with Heathrow, York, Swindon and Stratford City among the best performers.

Online sales climbed by 25.8%, with double digit percentage increases across all of the assortment areas.

At the directorate level, electrical and home technology sales surged by 18.8% year-on-year. Fashion sales followed closely behind with an uplift of 15.4% while home sales climbed by 13.3%.

David Barford, director of selling, group L & S at John Lewis, said: “We move towards the end of the trading year with strong performances across all of our channels.

“There was a good split of results across the week with all days except one putting on double digit percentage gains.”
