John Lewis Partnership to recruit for 7,000 temporary roles this festive season
The John Lewis Partnership is to recruit for more than 7,000 temporary roles in the run-up to Christmas, which is 2,000 more than last year.
Seasonal roles will be available across the partnership’s 331 Waitrose supermarkets for store assistants and night shift workers, as well as for customer delivery drivers within the retailer’s online grocery shopping service.
The partnership will also be recruiting for temporary sales and merchandising roles at its 34 John Lewis department stores.
In addition, it is looking to fill more than 550 permanent full-time driver and warehouse positions across its distribution centres and online Waitrose and John Lewis customer delivery centres.
Jobs will start to be advertised in phases throughout September and October.
Nikki Humphrey, people director at the John Lewis Partnership, said: “We know that as the first Christmas after lockdown, customers will want to make it really special and we’re throwing everything we can into helping them celebrate – our festive team will have a crucial role to play. We’re looking for people who can deliver extraordinary service to help customers get what they need to celebrate. We look forward to welcoming people into our team across the country.”
The partnership has recently signed a lease agreement for a 300,000 square foot distribution centre at Bardon in Leicestershire which will help support additional online demand ahead of Black Friday this year.
