John Lewis Partnership thanks staff with new reward payment and increased discount

The John Lewis Partnership is to thank staff working through the covid-19 crisis with a new reward payment and an increased level of discount.

The partnership has announced that all non-management staff and first level managers working from 12 April will receive a bonus payment of  £25 for each week worked in May and June. This will amount to £200 in total.

The payment will apply to all front-line staff who continue to work in Waitrose shops and within the John Lewis department store’s online operations.

Representing around 11% of an average full-time non-management staff member’s weekly pay, this new payment follows the award  of a 2% bonus which was given to all staff in March.

The retailer is also increasing the partnership staff discount rate in Waitrose shops from 15% to 25% for thirteen weeks. Following the thirteen week period, the the bonus will then return to a permanently higher level of 20%.

Sharon White, chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, said: “Partners have made significant sacrifices to ensure that we are able to continue to serve and support our customers. The measures that we have announced today are in recognition  of their hard work and commitment and are part of a wider package of support available to help pPartners during this extraordinary time.”
